William R. Briggs, 64, of Harper Road, Blairs Mills, PA, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA.

Born May 2, 1959 at McConnellsburg, PA, he was a son of the late William E. Briggs and Thelma (Mentzer) Briggs, who survives of Shade Gap, PA. He was united in marriage to the former Polly Starr on April 24, 1982. Mrs. Briggs survives at their home.

He is also survived by two daughters, Lana Briggs of Mill Creek, PA and Maria Briggs of Blairs Mills, three grandchildren, Felicity, Addie and Xander and three sisters, Kathy Reed and husband Willis of Shirleysburg, PA, Judy Dell of Shippensburg, PA and Vicky McCormick and husband Don of Fort Loudon, PA. One sister, Denise Cisney, preceded in death.

Mr. Briggs was a graduate of Southern Huntingdon County High School in the Class of 1977.

He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years, mostly employed by Henkel’s & McCoy. He was a member of IBEW Local 126.

He was an avid fisherman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 22, 2024 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA with Pastor Richard Hamman officiating. Interment will be made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home 6 - 8 PM on Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
