Wendell E. Glunt

Wendell E. Glunt, 86, of Shade Gap, PA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 24, 2025.

Born on June 11, 1938 in Dublin Township, Huntingdon County, PA, he was the son of the late Willis and Esther (Murphy) Glunt.  He was married to his high school sweetheart, Viola Ruth (Benson) Glunt on June 7, 1958.

He is survived by his wife Viola Glunt and six children Karen Baylor and husband Dennis of Street, MD, Wayne Glunt and wife Susan (Martin) of Boiling Springs, SC, Angela Berger and husband Paul of Lake Ariel, PA, Gregory Glunt and wife Cindy (Roberts) of Loris, SC, Douglas Glunt and wife Christina (Snyder) of Railroad, PA and Doretta Gratkowski and husband Greg of Chambersburg, PA.  He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and siblings Clifford Glunt, Sr., Leriwyn Glunt, Darrel Glunt, Charlene Mitchell and Marlene Stull.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Glunt was preceded in death by two grandchildren, one great grandchild and siblings Glenda Varner, Dale Glunt, Loraine Glunt, Lloyd Glunt, Galen Glunt and Donna Faye Glunt. 

He enjoyed a long career at Chambersburg Hospital and Menno Haven where he was respected by his colleagues and loved by the patients he encountered.  After retirement he enjoyed helping out and making deliveries for Cisney’s Auto Parts store in Shade Gap, PA.  

Wendell was a long-time attendee of the Calvary Independent Baptist Church in Saltillo, PA.

He loved life and always had a smile and kind words to offer.  Wendell will be deeply missed by many.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA with Pastor Dan Long officiating.  Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap, PA.  Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until the time of the service on Saturday.
