Thomas C. Whitsel

Thomas C. Whitsel, 68, of Shirleysburg, PA, died Sunday, July 4, 2021 at his home. 

Born October 14, 1952 in Shirley Twp., Huntingdon Co., PA, he was a son of the late Michael W. and Eva (Kelly) Whitsel. He was united in marriage to the former Barbara Ann DeVerter on December 29, 1989. Mrs. Whitsel survives at their home.

He is also survived by three children, Jennifer Winter and husband Trace of Mt. Union, PA, Cheryl Whitmyer and husband David of Middletown, PA and Tammy Smith of Glen Rock, PA, thirteen grandchildren, Ashley Skopic and husband Steve, Jazlynne Winter, Cody Winter, Ricky Brown and wife Laura, Shawn King, Jeffrey Sauders, III, Brittany Byers, Nikeisha Byers, Justine Fready, Jessica Shoemaker, Jenna Shoemaker and Katelynn Pheasant, eighteen great grandchildren and one brother, Terry Whitsel of Altoona, PA. He was preceded in death by two children, Carla Nelson and Jeffrey Sauders, Jr., one grandson, Scott Winter, one brother and two sisters.

Mr. Whitsel was the owner/operator of Whitsel’s Pub, Shirleysburg, PA for 20 years. 

He enjoyed hunting, shooting pool, woodworking and butchering.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 8, 2021 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA with Rev. Beverly Skopic officiating. Interment will be made at the I. O. O. F. Memorial Cemetery, Rockhill Furnace, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
