Susan A. (Burdge) Brooks

Susan A. (Burdge) Brooks, 69, formerly of Orbisonia, PA and more recently a resident of the Masonic Homes, Elizabethtown, PA, died Thursday, April 29, 2021 at the Masonic Homes.

Born September 21, 1951 at Rockhill Furnace, PA, she was a daughter of the late Clair H. and Dorothy A. (Miller) Burdge. 

She is survived by one daughter, Holly S. Leonard and husband Jason of Mt. Joy, PA, two granddaughters, Claire and Grace Leonard  and two siblings, Joanne Miller and husband Sam of Calvin, PA and Edward Burdge and wife Eileen of Toledo, OH. Two sisters,  Audrey Bradnick and Erma Fazenbaker, preceded in death. 

Ms. Brooks was a member of the West Greentree Church of the Brethren, Elizabethtown, PA and a former member of the Rockhill Church of the Brethren, Rockhill Furnace, PA, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and also helped with fun night for the children. She had served as treasurer of the local Brownie Troop and Girl Scout Troop in Orbisonia, the Rockhill Elementary School PTO and the former Orbisonia Antenna Corporation where she also served on the board of directors. She also volunteered for hospice in Huntingdon and Lancaster Counties for over 20 years.

She was employed at Community State Bank, Orbisonia, PA for 23 years. Prior to that she was employed at the former G. C. Murphy’s, Mt. Union, PA and the former Murphy’s Mart, Huntingdon, PA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 3, 2021 at the Rockhill Church of the Brethren, 10999 Valley St., Rockhill Furnace, PA with Pastor Mick Allen officiating. Interment will be made at Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg, PA. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
