Shirley A. (Barnes) Mills

Shirley A. Mills, 85, of Rockhill Furnace, PA, died on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at her home.

Born on November 2, 1935 in Williamson, PA, she was the daughter of the late Rachael (Barnes) Gelsinger and step-father Kenneth Gelsinger, Sr.  She was married to Carl H. Mills on June 26, 1960.  Mr. Mills preceded in death on February 23, 2014.

Mrs. Mills is survived by two sons and two daughters:  Jeffrey Mills and Craig Mills and wife Tammy, both of Rockhill Furnace; Leslie Miller and husband John, Blairs Mills, PA; and Holly Varner and husband Todd, Orbisonia, PA.  Five grandchildren:  Cory Mills and wife Kirstin; Delaine Miller; Josie Mills; Braedon North; and Majerle North, one step-grandson: Colby Varner, and three great-grandchildren: Conner Mills; Laci Mills; and Carl Mills also survive.

Mrs. Mills was a 1954 graduate of Chambersburg High School, Chambersburg, PA.

She was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Shade Gap, PA.

During her lifetime, Mrs. Mills worked at JC Newberrys, Chambersburg, PA and later as a Postal Clerk at the Rockhill Furnace Post Office.

She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities, Dallas Cowboys and Notre Dame football and NASCAR.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap, PA with Rev. Robin Baer officiating.
