Ruth A. Hockenberry, 63, of Fairview Church Road, Mapleton, PA, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at UPMC Community Osteopathic Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born September 12, 1958 at Huntingdon, PA, she was a daughter of the late George and Lela (Yohn) Cisney. She was united in marriage to David Hockenberry on October 10, 1995. Mr. Hockenberry survives at their home.
She is also survived by three sons, Brad Johnson and wife Kimberly of Doylesburg, PA, Aaron Johnson and wife Michelle of Blairs Mills, PA and Curtis Johnson and wife Heather of East Waterford, PA, one stepson, Cody Hockenberry of Huntingdon, PA, seven grandchildren, Ezra Johnson, Sawyer Johnson, Tanner Johnson, Tucker Johnson, Steven McCartney, Logan McCartney and Lucas McCartney, one step great granddaughter, Sydney McCartney and seven siblings, Lester Cisney and wife Pat, Clyde Cisney and wife Nancy and Fred Cisney and companion Cathy, all of Blairs Mills, PA, Rose Gordon and husband Tyler of Three Springs, PA, G. Lynn Briggs and husband Randy of Blairs Mills, PA, Emma Walker of Three Springs, PA and Edwin Cisney and wife Carol of Blairs Mills, PA. One sister, Nancy Cisney, preceded in death.
Mrs. Hockenberry was a member of the Dublin Mills Community Church, Hustontown, PA, where she was active in the Ladies Group and Forever Friends.
During her life she was employed as a licensed practical nurse at the Woodland Retirement Community, Orbisonia, PA, the Shirley Home, Shirleysburg, PA and the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin, PA.
At one time she initiated the writing of a cookbook at the Woodland Retirement Community and was known for her own baking and cooking. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing, canning, her cats and spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA with Pastor Ben Holler officiating. Interment will be made at Cassville Cemetery, Cassville, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home 6 - 8 PM on Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
