Ruth E. Cornelius, 77, of Wye Lane, Three Springs, PA died on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at her home.
Born April 30, 1943 in Saltillo, PA she was the daughter of the late Carl Kelley and Mary Catherine (Johnson) Covert. She was married to Marion R. Cornelius on March 3, 1973. Mr. Cornelius preceded in death on April 22, 2016.
Mrs. Cornelius is survived by seven children; Dale Watkins and wife Nancy, Chambersburg, PA; Deborah K. Price and husband Joseph, Shade Gap, PA; Dianna Cowan and husband Craig, Hershey, PA; Dena Detwiler, Panama City, FL; Merle “Butch” Danfelt and wife Brenda, Rockhill Furnace, PA; Ronda Brown and husband George, Mapleton Depot, PA; and Elona Sauders and husband Jeff, Shirleysburg, PA.
There are 18 grandchildren: Bethann, Anthony and Daniel Watkins, Ellen (Watkins) Miller, Merle and Barry “BJ” Snyder, Bradley Cowan, Ashley Rodichok, Justin Danfelt, Victoria “Tori” Fanucci, Jeremy Hoffman, William “Bill” Brown, Harley and Karley “KC” Brown, Nikeisha and Brittany Byers, David “DJ” Leab and Jeffrey Sauders III.
Fourteen great grandchildren also survive.
One brother, Matthew Covert, preceded in death.
She was of Methodist faith and was a graduate of Saltillo High School, Saltillo, PA.
During her lifetime, she was a mail carrier. She was also employed at Robin Footwear, Mt Union, PA, and at U.S. Sports, Huntingdon, PA.
Mrs. Cornelius enjoyed traveling, shopping, spending time with her grandchildren, attending craft shows and was an avid reader.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 21, 2020 at the Orbisonia United Methodist Church, 613 Cromwell St., Orbisonia, PA with Rev. Ed Seeley officiating. Interment will be at Three Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
