Robert R. Smith

Robert R. Smith, 77, of Rockhill Furnace, PA, died Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, PA.

Born June 7, 1941 in Lack Twp., Juniata Co., PA, he was a son of the late Raymond R. Smith and Alice M. (Yoder) Smith who survives of Blacklog Valley Road, Orbisonia, PA. He was united in marriage to the former Judy K. Whitsel on July 23, 1965 at Winchester, VA. Mrs. Smith survives at their home.

He is also survived by two sons, Robert R. Smith, Jr. and wife Stephanie and Mark A. Smith and wife Tonya, all of Beers Road, Shirleysburg, PA, six grandchildren, Benjamin Smith and fiancé Penny Beam, Logan Smith and wife McKenzie, Mason Smith, Andrea Smith, Emily Smith and Luke Smith, two great grandchildren, Brandon Beam and Sophia Smith and one brother, C. David Smith and wife Patricia of Orbisonia, PA. One brother, L. Timothy Smith, preceded in death and one sister, Nancy Elizabeth Smith, died in infancy.

Mr. Smith was a member of the Rockhill Church of the Brethren, Rockhill Furnace, PA. He also served on the Rockhill Borough Council for over 20 years, the former Orbisonia-Rockhill Antenna Corp. and was active in the Orbisonia-Rockhill Sportsman’s Association. He was a 1959 graduate of Orbisonia High School.

During his life he was employed as a sawyer in the lumber industry.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and attending his children and grandchildren’s activities and sporting events.

Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U. S. Army National Guard.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA with Pastor Brian L. Smith officiating. Interment will be made at the I. O. O. F. Memorial Cemetery, Rockhill Furnace, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of the service on Saturday.
