Robert W. Parsons

Robert W. Parsons, 92, of Blairs Mills, PA, died Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at WellSpan York Hospital, York, PA.

Born on June 15, 1930, in Tell Township, PA, he was the son of the late Lester E. and Grace (Linn) Parsons.  He was united in marriage to Ramona Moore on December 27, 1953 at the Neelyton United Methodist Church with Rev. James Nottingham officiating.  Mrs. Parsons survives at home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Christopher Parsons, at home and Martin Parsons and wife Lisa, Shade Gap, PA, three grandchildren, Aidiana Parsons, Shade Gap, PA, Nathan Parsons and wife Monique, Shade Gap, PA and Nicholas Parsons and wife Laurie, Willow Hill, PA and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Conrad.  Two sisters, Gracie Goshorn, Shamokin Dam, PA and Jeanette St. Clair, Blairs Mills, PA also survive.

He was preceded in death by siblings Ellsworth Parsons, Virginia Parsons, Lorma Bebernes, Chester Parsons, Eleanor Fogal and Earl Parsons.

Mr. Parsons graduated from Orbisonia High School in 1948 and attended Juniata College where he was a member of the college choir.

In 1953, he purchased a farm in Dublin Township, PA where he engaged in farming until 1961.  In August of that year he accepted a position of Auditor for the PA State Auditors General Department where he worked until his retirement in 1987.

Mr. Parsons had always been active in the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.  From the Swan Farm in Shade Gap that he had purchased prior, he donated a five-acre site on which St. Luke’s UMC (a merger of the Shade Gap and Neelyton churches) and parsonage was built.

In 1987, he sold 45 acres of his land to Interforest, Inc. (now Danzer), a company which grades and ships lumber worldwide.

Mr. Parsons was a skilled electrician and carpenter.  He put those skills to work in helping his son, Martin establish the Wood-Mizer business.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 18, 2023 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 11691 Circle St., Shade Gap, PA with Pastor Summer Love officiating.  Interment will be at Salem Cemetery, Blairs Mills, PA.  Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
