Rev. Darrell Reed Nicklow

Rev. Darrell Reed Nicklow, 70, of Amy Lane, Tyrone, PA, died Saturday, March 4, 2023 at his home.

Born July 18, 1952 at Confluence, PA, he was a son of the late Harry Nicklow and Barbara (Becket) Nicklow, who survives of Fort Hill, PA. He was united in marriage to the former Linda Reckner on November 27, 1971 at the Confluence Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Nicklow survives at their home.

He is also survived by two sons, Jason Nicklow and wife Kimberly of Smithfield, PA and Travis Nicklow and wife Angie of Hesston, PA, three grandchildren, Alivia, Luke and Bailey one step grandson, Joshua Bafia and wife Tia, three step great grandsons, Brody, Beau and Brooks and one brother, Edward Nicklow of Summersville, WV.

Rev. Nicklow had served as a Nazarene minister since July 20, 1974, with his faithful wife Linda. He graduated from Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, CO on June 3, 1974 and later received Bachelors and Masters degrees from Evangelical Bible College and Seminary in Greenacres, FL. He was ordained by the Pittsburgh District Church of the Nazarene on July 30, 1976. Rev. Nicklow had served as pastor of six Nazarene churches over the last 47 plus years, all in Pennsylvania, in Springboro, St. Petersburg, Sharpsville, Dubois, Homer City and at Orbisonia for 28 ½ years. He was involved in radio ministry for 37 years. His program was called “God’s Word For Today” and aired most recently on WJSM out of Martinsburg, PA. He also had written “Heart & Soul” columns for the religious page of The Valley Log newspaper for 17 years. Rev. Nicklow also preached at many revivals across Pennsylvania during his ministry.

Rev. Nicklow was a life member of the National Rifle Association for many years. A lifelong hunter and fisherman, he especially loved trout fishing, deer hunting and pheasant hunting with his bird dogs.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at the Orbisonia Church of the Nazarene, 594 Meadow St., Rockhill Furnace, PA with Rev. Wayne Hokanson officiating. Interment will be made at Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, McConnellstown, PA. Friends may call at the church 6 - 8 PM on Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
