R. Ed Scott, 82, of Orbisonia, PA, died Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at his home.
Born March 23, 1939 at Orbisonia, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Vera (Gutshall) Scott. He was united in marriage to the former Linda Keith on August 5, 1967. Mrs. Scott survives at their home.
He is also survived by three children, Stephen Scott, Martha Garlock and husband Ryan and Julie Fisher and husband Dave, all of Orbisonia, five grandchildren, Elizabeth Scott, Olivia Scott, Cassidy Garlock, Scott Garlock and David Fisher, one great granddaughter, Ailee Scott and two brothers, John Scott of Georgia and Kenneth Scott of Orbisonia. One granddaughter, Adalyn Scott, preceded in death.
Mr. Scott was a member of the Orbisonia United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for over 25 years and taught the Men’s Sunday School Class for 20 years. He was also a 50 year member of Cromwell Lodge #572, F. & A. M., Orbisonia, a member of the Orbisonia Lions Club, the Orbisonia Deer Camp, Blue Juniata Post 5754, V. F. W., Mt. Union, PA, Madden-Wennick Post 518, American Legion, Rockhill Furnace, PA, where he had served on the board of directors and as Chaplain and the Huntingdon County Sports Hall of Fame, where he served on the executive committee. He also served as secretary of the I. O. O. F. Memorial Cemetery, Rockhill Furnace, PA.
He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, PA after 22 years service and was then employed at the Southern Huntingdon County High School as the maintenance supervisor for 7 years. Prior to his employment at Letterkenny he was a self employed carpenter.
He was an avid gardener and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Scott served the U. S. Army from 1961 until 1964 in Germany and Korea.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Sunday, June 6, 2021 at the Orbisonia United Methodist Church, 613 Cromwell St., Orbisonia, PA with Rev. Ed Seeley officiating. Interment will be made at Orbisonia Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
