R. Max Grove

R. Max Grove, 86, formerly of Shirleysburg, PA, died Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at AristaCare at Woodland Park, Orbisonia, PA.

Born December 4, 1932 at Shirleysburg, PA, he was a son of the late Ira and Martha (Moehler) Grove. He was united in marriage to the former Sandra Snyder Park on September 14, 1952. Mrs. Grove preceded in death April 21, 2018.

He is survived by three sons, Ronald O. Grove and his wife Trina of Pleasant Hall, PA, David S. Grove of Millersburg, OH and Gregory A. Grove of Orbisonia, PA, three grandchildren, Rachel Grove of Scranton, PA, Jennifer Gonzalez and husband Brandon of Millersburg, OH and Ben Grove and wife Sharon of Columbus, OH and two great grandchildren, Jocelyn Lucas and Jacob Covert and one sister, Helen Rackocy of Shirleysburg, PA. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Aaron Grove, one brother, Bruce Grove and one sister, Lonia Joy Laidig.

Mr. Grove was a member of the Shirleysburg United Methodist Church, had served on the Shirleysburg Boro Council and was a past member of the Shirley Rod and Gun Club.

He retired in 1988 from the Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, PA as a diesel mechanic.

Mr. Grove was a veteran of the U. S. Army, First Infantry Division during the Korean War.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA. Interment will be made at Germany Valley Cemetery, RD, Shirleysburg, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home 6 - 8 PM on Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shirleysburg United Methodist Church, 16989 Croghan Pike, Shirleysburg, PA 17260.
