Mildred N. Booher

Mildred N. “Toodle” Booher, 90, of Orbisonia, PA, passed away at 7:15 AM, Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Embassy of Huntingdon Park, Huntingdon, PA.

Born March 25, 1932 in Cromwell Twp., Huntingdon Co., PA, she was a daughter of the late Leslie W. and Lucinda F. (Runk) Covert. She was married to Charles “Ed” Booher on May 20, 1955 in Three Springs, PA by the Rev. Charlie Rhodes. Mr. Booher preceded in death on September 29, 2005.

Mrs. Booher is survived by a son, James Booher, Orbisonia, PA, step-granddaughters Amber M. Allen and husband Matt, Mapleton Depot, PA and Heather J. Scott and husband Cory, Orbisonia, PA, brother John B. Covert, Venice, FL, sister Esther Covert, Huntingdon, PA and step-great grandchildren Kia, Sara and Bella Allen and Emma, Nathan and Nevaeh Scott.

A large number of special nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews, great-great-grand nieces and nephews and great-great-great-grand nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters Myrtle Knepper, Amanda Plank, Dorothy Fields and Erma Ulsh and four brothers, Clifford Covert, Wilbert Covert, E. Leroy Covert and Richard Covert.

During her lifetime Mrs. Booher worked at L. Grief Bros. in Mt. Union until her son was born.  She later worked for the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit 11 as a self-contractor and as an aide.  She spent many years as the primary caregiver of her husband.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Orbisonia, PA where she served on the church board for many years, sang in the choir and was on the Food Committee as long as her health permitted.

Mrs. Booher loved her flowers and there was something blooming from the crocuses in the Spring till the dahlias in the late Fall.

She came from a family of bakers and each had their speciality.  Everyone always asked for her potato salad, peanut delight and whoopie pies.

Mrs. Booher loved her family and friends and never ended a visit or phone all without saying “I love you.”

She loved to watch Jeopardy. She always watched the Pittsburgh Pirates and grew to like the Pittsburgh Penguins games even though she did not know much about it and never could keep track of the puck.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 13, 2022 at the Orbisonia Church of the Nazarene, 594 Meadow St., Rockhill Furnace, PA with Rev. David Ford officiating.  Interment will be at Jordan Cemetery, Orbisonia, PA.  Friends may call at the church from 6 - 8:00 PM on Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
