Merle I. Sharar, Sr.

Merle I. Sharar, Sr., 69, of Rockhill Furnace, PA, died Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Born December 26, 1954 at McConnellsburg, PA, he was a son of the late Charles Sharar and Eileen (Pittman) Sharar who survives. He was united in marriage to the former Brenda Ball on February 14, 2005. Mrs. Sharar preceded in death on June 28, 2014.

He is survived by four children, Richard Sharar, Crystal Williams, Merle Sharar, Jr. and wife Heather and Jerry Sharar, one step daughter, Crystal Leonard, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and four siblings, Joyce Wilson, Sherry DeShong, Loretta Irvin and Mary Gsell. He was preceded in death by one stepson, Barry Ball and one brother, Charles “Chubb” Sharar.

Mr. Sharar was employed in the construction field for most of his life.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed traveling to watch Chris Woodward and Shindiggin.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
