Lenora Flood Obituary

Lenora H. Flood, 94, of Blairs Mills, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at her home.

Born October 6, 1926 in Tell Twp., Huntingdon Co., PA, she was a daughter of the late William Ira and Erma Margaret (Love) Hampton. She was united in marriage to Ralph H. Flood, Sr. on September 25, 1948. Mr. Flood preceded in death on October 4, 1999.

She is survived by two children, Ralph H. Flood, Jr. and wife Pam of Blairs Mills, PA and Marcie Flood Abrashoff of Idaho Falls, ID. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Dawn Parks and husband Jeff, Vaughn Flood and wife Dara, James Abrashoff and wife Amanda, Alicia Blain and husband Jeremiah and Stephanie Johannessen and husband Ellery and ten great grandchildren, Olivia and Gage Parks, Hattie and Drew Flood, Sofia, Sawyer and Silas Abrashoff, Jasmine and Afton Blain and Madeline Johannessen. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by her son in law, James D. Abrashoff and her siblings, Emory Chestnut, Arthur Earl, Elma Kathleen, Marie Isabelle, William Ward and Jacob Homer.

Mrs. Flood was a 1944 graduate of Orbisonia High School. She went on to receive her RN nursing degree, graduating in 1947 from Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing. In 1972 she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Millersville University.She was employed as a nurse at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA and as a school nurse for the Southern Huntingdon County School District at their elementary schools.

She spoke often about her years of nursing and cherished the memories of the people she met.

The family would like to express their gratitude to her caregivers and Grane Hospice Care of Altoona for the kindness and professional care given to their mother. The family also appreciates the help given by Jill Cherry and Pastor Ruth Joudry.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with interment at Salem Cemetery.
