John W. Pleacher, III, 67, of Gifford Road, Neelyton, PA, died Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at his home.

Born August 25, 1954 at Huntingdon, PA, he was a son of the late John W. , Jr. and Genieve (Parson) Pleacher. He was united in marriage to the former Margaret Stark on August 4, 1979. Mrs. Pleacher survives at their home.

He is also survived by one son, John W. Pleacher, IV of York Haven, PA, two grandchildren, John W. Pleacher, V and Morrigan Jane Pleacher and two siblings, Carroll Seybert of Kittanning, PA and Timothy Pleacher of DuBois, PA. One sister, Sherry Pleacher, preceded in death.

Mr. Pleacher was a member of the Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church, Shade Gap, PA, where he was a member of the Worship Team and the Fair Ridge Boys. 

He was the founder, drummer, played harmonica and sang lead vocals in the group Mountains East, among others. He enjoyed fly fishing, fly tying and hunting. He was a narrow gauge train enthusiast, was interested in history in general and the Civil War in particular, had a love/hate relationship with computers and was known for enjoying a good argument. He was of Native American descent and loved wolves. He also wrote poetry and enjoyed drawing and painting. 

He was a 1973 graduate of Beall High School, Frostburg, MD. He was the owner/operator of John’s Ceramics, Frostburg, MD, was a professional photographer doing many weddings and portraits and prior to that was employed at Sleeman’s Lumber, Frostburg, MD.

His grandchildren were the joy and light of his life. He also had a love for the family property and family farm. All he ever wanted to do was live on the farm.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 11, 2021 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA with Rev. Berry Brown officiating. Interment will be made at Fair Ridge Cemetery, Shade Gap, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home 6 - 8 PM on Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
