Joan A. Bonnema

Joan A. Bonnema, 90, of Shade Gap, PA, died Monday, September 23, 2024 at her home.

Born August 3, 1934 at Philadelphia, PA, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Clarissa (Osborn) Kettle. She was united in marriage to Edward G. Bonnema, Sr. on April 27, 1951. Mr. Bonnema preceded in death on February 20,1989.

She is survived by three children, Jeffrey Bonnema of Shade Gap, Kathryn Covert and husband Kevin of Shade Gap and Kimberly Starliper of Mt. Union, PA, four grandchildren, Eddie Haigh and wife Liz, Jenny Blizzard and husband Andrew, Kristyn Covert and fiance Michael Grove and Kelsey Covert and companion Luke Bittner and one great grandson, Jackson Haigh. She was preceded in death by one son, Edward Bonnema, Jr., one brother, William Kettle, Jr. and two sisters, Margaret Kettle and Florence Thomas .

Mrs. Bonnema was of the protestant faith. 

Along with being a homemaker, she was employed at the Fulton County Courthouse for a number of years and most recently at the former Little K Country Store, Shade Gap, PA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA. Interment will be made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
