Goldie E. (Johnson) Hampton

Goldie E. Hampton, 92, of Fannettsburg, PA, died Thursday, July 31, 2025 at her home.

Born on April 18, 1933 in Shade Gap, PA, she was the daughter of the late Bower and Gail (Worley) Johnson.  She was united in marriage to Harry F. Hampton, Jr. on January 20, 1950.  Mr. Hampton preceded in death on September 14, 2010.

She is survived by children Emma Naugle and husband Benjamin, Fannettsburg, PA, Edna Thatcher and husband John, Spring Run, PA, Sarah Gipe and husband Guy “Mike” Gipe, Spring Run, PA, Lawrence “Jay” Hampton and wife Candy, Millerstown, PA and Calvin Hampton and wife Sue, New Jersey, daughter-in-law Kathy Hampton, Willow Hill, PA and daughter-in-law Paula Hampton, St. Thomas, PA.

Fifteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and siblings Mae Runk, Willow Hill, PA, Althea Coons, Shade Gap, PA, Hilda Herman, Harrisburg, PA, Norman Johnson, Willow Hill, PA and Alfred Johnson, Alabama also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son David Hampton, son Charles Hampton, Sr., grandson Charles “Chuck” Hampton, Jr., great-granddaughter Paige Gelwicks, great-grandson Austin Gelwicks, great-great granddaughter Oaklynn Carpenter, brothers Emery Johnson, Johnny Johnson, Wilbert Johnson and sister Dorothy Brant.

Mrs. Hampton was a member of the Shady Pine Mennonite Church, Willow Hill, PA.

During her lifetime, she worked at Campbell’s Poultry Farm, Dry Run, PA for nine years and later retired from the Path Valley Ferret Farm, Willow Hill, PA.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing  and making baby quilts.  She loved to work on puzzles and once they were completed, she would often frame the puzzles and give as a gift.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, August 8, 2025 at the Shady Pine Mennonite Church, 14620 Shady Pine Rd., Willow Hill, PA with Marlin “Butch” Neil and Pastor Joe Martin officiating.  Interment will be at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA.  Friends may call at the church from 6 - 8:00 PM Thursday evening and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
