George E. Wilbur, 92, of Hares Valley Road, Mapleton, PA and more recently a resident at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, PA, died Monday, January 5, 2025 at Penn Highlands Huntingdon.
Born December 25, 1933 at Clarendon, PA, he was a son of the late George C. and Leona Mae (Weilicher) Wilbur. He was united in marriage to the former Evadene S. Smith who survives at their home.
He is also survived by two sons, George G. Wilbur and wife Debi of Oil City, PA and Geoffrey D. Wilbur and wife Lyda of Tulsa, OK, two grandsons, George I. Wilbur and Jacob P. Wilbur and two great granddaughters, Violet Elaine Wilbur and Emma Paige Wilbur. Two brothers, Floyd and Leo Wilbur and one sister, Viola Mickle, preceded in death.
Mr. Wilbur attended the Calvary Independant Baptist Church, Saltillo, PA.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the Pennsylvania State University in the Class of 1955. He later received his Master’s degree from Penn State and certifications from Stroudsburg University and Shippensburg University.
He retired in 1996 as a teacher from Tyrone Area High School after 33 years service. Prior to that he taught at Southern Huntingdon County High School for one year and the former Saltillo High School for 7 years.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA with Pastor Dan Long officiating. Interment will be made privately at Cornelius Chapel Cemetery, Mapleton, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
