George F. Morton, Jr.

George F. Morton, Jr., 86, of Alexander Ave., Mt. Union, PA, died Thursday, March 5, 2026 at his home.

Born February 19, 1940 at Chambersburg, PA, he was a son of the late George F., Sr. and Geraldine (Marshall) Morton. He was united in marriage to the former Bonnie McConaughey on December 19, 1984. Mrs. Morton survives at their home.

He is also survived by three children, Layne Morton of California, Kimberly Golden and husband Gary of Warfordsburg, PA and Shawna McConaughey and fiance Jason Ramsey of Three Springs, PA, six grandchildren, Logan Morton, Alexa Morton, Alison Morton, Ethan Golden, Kylie Golden and Shade Ramsey, three great grandsons and three siblings, Thomas Morton of Mt. Union, PA, Jennifer DeShong of Hustontown, PA and Thurston Morton of Maryland. He was preceded in death by two children, Seth Morton and Leslie Ramos.

Mr. Morton was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, retiring after 20 years service. He later retired as a corrections officer at SCI Rockview, Bellefonte, PA. He had also served as a Mt. Union police officer and a Huntingdon County deputy sheriff.

George was a firearm enthusiast. He was also an avid outdoorsman and very fond of nature.

At Mr. Morton’s request there will be no services.
