Duane C. Brechbiel

Duane C. Brechbiel, 83, formerly of Mopar Lane, Mapleton, PA, died Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at the Long Term Care Unit of the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA.

Born June 15, 1940 at Huntingdon, PA, he was a son of the late Charles and Zola (Varner) Brechbiel. He was united in marriage to the former Ruth V. Wasson on December 31, 1960 at Orbisonia, PA. Mrs. Brechbiel preceded in death on October 4, 2010. 

He is survived by three children, Edwin Brechbiel and wife Jeanne, Glen Brechbiel and Susan Baker and husband Mike, all of RD, Mapleton, seven grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and two sisters, Velma Hardy of RD, Mapleton and Joyce Ford of Saltillo, PA. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jason and Kevin and five grandchildren.

Mr. Brechbiel had attended Beech Run Church of the Brethren, RD. Mapleton, PA. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and the Trough Creek Valley Sportsman’s Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was employed by Empire Kosher, Inc. for 23 years and was engaged in farming throughout his life.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, July 10, 2023 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA with Pastor Dan Long officiating. Interment will be made at Bowman’s Chapel Cemetery, Mapleton, PA. Friends and family may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Monday.
