Dorothy Mae Redinger, 91, formerly of Three Springs, PA, died Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Embassy at Hearthside, State College, PA.
Dottie was born March 31, 1932 to Lawrence and Gladys (Brown) Cohenour, in Pogue, PA. She had two brothers and nine sisters.
She grew up beside the East Broad Top Railroad and graduated from Saltillo High School in 1950.
After graduating, Dottie worked in a sewing factory in Chambersburg, PA, where on a blind date, she met Donald W. Redinger. They were married in Hagerstown, MD on January 6, 1952 and were together for 64 years. They made their home in Three Springs and remained there for over 60 years.
Dottie is survived by one son, Donald Redinger, Jr. and his wife Darlene of Chambersburg, one daughter, Diana Morningstar and her husband Rick of Huntingdon, PA and one daughter in law, Charlene Redinger of Sweetwater, TN. One son, Dennis Redinger, preceded in death.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jennifer Showalter and husband Travis, Zachary Morningstar, Elle Redinger and Ethan Redinger and two great grandsons, Jared Showalter and Cole Showalter.
For a time in her life, Dottie worked as a clerk at Stinson’s Grocery Store in Three Springs and as a substitute rural mail carrier in Three Springs.
She was primarily a housewife who loved to bake, sew, crochet and garden.
