Donald Melvin “Woody” Woodward, 84, of Shade Gap, PA, went to be with the Lord early Sunday morning, September 21st, 2025, while resting peacefully at his home. Born July 7th, 1941 in Shade Gap, he was the son of the late Melvin D and Sara Jane (Watters) Woodward.
A 1959 graduate of Orbisonia High School, Donald was united in marriage to Nancy Margarita Yohn on June 17th, 1961. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years ,daughter Dawn and husband Alfonso Ciervo of Camp Hill, PA. Sons Terry and wife Karen of Orbisonia, Kevin and wife Adaria of Shirleysburg ,Todd and wife Melanie of Camp Hill. Along with 8 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. He is survived by the following siblings, Treva Madden of Embassy of Woodland Park, Orbisonia, Glenn Woodward of Carlisle, Peggy Lake of Shade Gap, Barbara Hooper of Huntingdon and Melinda Mohr of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Hower and Shelby Johnson.
Donald worked for 37 years in construction as a skilled carpenter, building not only with his hands but with pride and dedication. He was employed by D.W. Miller Construction and later by Kee-Ta Quay Construction. He was a vested member of the Carpenters Union 2274 out of Pittsburgh, PA. He was also a talented painter and throughout the years painted many homes along with roofs and churches in the surrounding communities.
He also enjoyed gardening and won numerous ribbons at the Huntington County Fair with his vegetables. He was a founding member of camp Ring-A-Ding and an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and trapping throughout his life.
He attended the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church and above all, he was a devoted family man. It brought him great joy spending time together during their many family gatherings and vacations. The highlight was the yearly traditional Christmas Eve gathering at his home.
Funeral services are being held privately at the convenience of the family.
