Donald L. Rothermel, 77, of Palmyra, PA and retired in Orbisonia, PA, passed away and called home to be with his Heavenly Father and Jesus on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
He was the husband of Glenda R. (Houck) Doyle-Rothermel with whom he celebrated WONDERFUL and LOVING YEARS of marriage, since September 2, 2000. Born in Millersburg, PA on June 2, 1947, he was a son of the late Elwood D. “Nip” Rothermel and Kathryn M. “Sis” (Muggio) Rothermel. Preceding in death was wife Sandra V. (Viccaro) Rothermel on May 1, 1996. Donald was a graduate of Palmyra Jr./Sr. High School - Class of 1965 in Palmyra, PA and a member of the Rockhill Church of the Brethren, Rockhill, PA.
Donald worked at Gill Rock Drill Co., Inc. in sales, Lebanon, PA, U.S. Navy, FA, US NAVSTA NORVA, Beacon Consumer Discount Co., Lebanon, PA, Polyclinic Hospital as Patients Accounts Manager, Harrisburg, PA and retired after 30 years at the Milton Hershey School, as Assistant Director of Recreation & Athletics, Hershey, PA.
Donald is survived by wife Glenda R. Rothermel, Orbisonia, PA, children Tammy M. (Rothermel) Blose and husband Jeffrey, Lebanon, PA, Lisa D. (Rothermel) McKee and husband Daniel, Palmyra, PA, Douglas Doyle and wife Marsha (Houck), Orbisonia, PA and Wendell Doyle and wife Jenny (Parks) Doyle, Three Springs, PA, grandchildren Katie (Blose) White and husband Tyler, Lauren McKee and Madison McKee, Corey Doyle and wife Ashley (Kern) Doyle, Christen Doyle, Austin Doyle and wife Rheanna (Winter) Doyle and Brock Doyle, great-grandchildren Blake White, Evan Doyle, Cade Doyle and Drew Doyle, sister Linda (Rothermel) McKinley and husband Wayne, Lititz, PA, brother Harold H. “Bud” Heinbaugh and wife Cheryl, Florida and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, Aunt Fairlee (Muggio) UnderKoffler and Uncle Larry Muggio.
Donald LOVED, RESPECTED and was PROUD of his family members, friends and associates. Donald especially loved his sister-in-law Sharon E. Querry for her spiritual guidance and support.
Donald was active in his community in various positions, Orbisonia Borough Council as Mayor and Orbisonia-Rockhill Joint Municipal Authority. Life member of the following: National Rifle Association of America; Shriners Hospital for Children; Zembo Shrine Temple; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #223; Rifle and Pistol Association; North American Fishing Club; Pennsylvania Trappers’ Association, Inc.; American Legion Post #0945; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #14000 and PGA Tour Partners Club. Donald was also a 50 year member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, Harrisburg, PA, 50 year member of Blue Lodge’s, William S. Snyder Lodge #756 F. & A. M., Harrisburg, PA and/or Cromwell Lodge #572 F. & A. M., Orbisonia, PA, Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks #976, Huntingdon, PA, Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen and Conservationists, Conservation Officers of Pennsylvania, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Tall Cedar of Lebanon, Harrisburg, PA #43 and the Orbisonia Lions Club.

Interment will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the Orbisonia Lions Club Building, 618 Water St., Orbisonia, PA with Brad Querry officiating.
