Donald A. Mills

Donald A. Mills, 87, formerly of Strodes Mills, PA and more recently of Lewistown, PA, died Friday, January 12, 2024 at Embassy of Hearthside, State College, PA.

Born April 13, 1936 at Shade Gap, PA, he was a son of the late Wilbur and Arlene (Clark) Mills. He was united in marriage to the former Bonnie Locke in June of 1958. Mrs. Mills survives at Lewistown, PA.

He is also survived by three children, Kari Swigart and husband Steve of Reedsville, PA, Traci Kreider and husband John of McClure, PA and Micha Mills and wife Christine of McVeytown, PA, seven grandchildren, Katelin Kramm, Daniel Swigart, Matt Kreider, Nathan Swigart, Jared Kreider, Micaela Mills and Blaine Kurtz, eleven great grandchildren and two siblings, Bernard Mills and wife Mary of Mechanicsburg, PA and Ann Bolinger-McMonigal and husband George of New Cumberland, PA. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie Mills and Marilyn Small.

Mr. Mills had attended the McVeytown United Methodist Church.

He graduated from Orbisonia High School and worked all of his life at farming, cutting timber and construction. He retired in 1998 from Standard Steel, Inc., Burnham, PA after 37 years service.

Mr. Mills loved nature and the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed old trucks, horses, cats and spending time at the family camp.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA with Pastor Steve Swigart officiating. Interment will be made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
