David Hoffman Obituary

David R. Hoffman, 80, of Three Springs, PA, died on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA.

Born April 16, 1945 in Huntingdon, PA, he was the son of the late Rex and Arlene (Lane) Hoffman.  He was united in marriage to Pamela K. Steel on October 8, 1966.  Mrs. Hoffman preceded in death on May 15, 2020

He is survived by son Brian and wife April of Greencastle PA, granddaughters and spouses, Kristin and Jordan Weaver, Kari and Stephen Hite, Kaitlyn and Bryce Corbett. Great-grandchildren Cameron and Harley Hite and soon-to-be third great-grandchild Baby Weaver.

He is also survived by a brother Dale Hoffman of Finely, OH and "favorite" sister Dorcas McVay of Mechanicsburg, PA.

He started his education in one room schools at Sugar Run and Jefferson, and graduated from Southern Huntingdon County High School Class of 1963.  

Mr. Hoffman was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard 1966-72.

Mr. Hoffman began his employment with the Saltillo Telephone Company and later retired from United Telephone Systems (now Brightspeed) after 43 years.  In his earlier years, he was an avid hunter, fisherman and was known to hunt rattlesnakes in the local area.  He was also a frequent blood donor for the American Red Cross. In his later years, he enjoyed telling stories, completing word searches and spending time with friends and family.

He was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church, Three Springs, PA , former board member of the Three Springs Area Historical Society, founding member of the Aughwick Civil War Roundtable. And a lifetime member of the Three Springs Volunteer Fire Company, having served as Fire Chief from 1979-1989. And was recognized as Fireman of the Year in 1980 and 1989.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Heritage Baptist Church, 9975 Pogue Road, Three Springs, PA with Pastor Tony Blackburn officiating.  Interment will be at the Old School Baptist Cemetery, Three Springs, PA.  Friends may call at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley Street, Orbisonia, PA from 6 - 8:00 PM Friday evening April 3rd and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grane Hospice, 115 Union Street Suite 100, Altoona, PA 16602.
