Daniel Whitsel Obituary

Daniel B. Whitsel, 74, of Three Springs, PA, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026 at his residence.

Born on October 12, 1951 in Cromwell Township, Huntingdon County, PA, he was the son of the late Sherman B. and Bernice A. (Hileman) Whitsel.  He was united in marriage to Deborah Flasher on June 16, 1973.  Mrs. Whitsel survives at home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Danielle Cutshall and husband Basil and Tara Whitsel and husband Bob Talbot, grandson Caleb Cutshall, five step-grandchildren, several step great-grandchildren, siblings Betty Whitsel and husband Ted and Ellis Whitsel and wife Gloria and sister-in-law Margaret “Peggy” Whitsel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Leroy Whitsel.

Mr. Whitsel was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was a member of the Orbisonia Lions Club.

During his lifetime, Mr. Whitsel was the owner of Whitsel's Hard and Soft Coal, a farmer and a self-employed building contractor.  He loved woodcutting, especially cutting big trees and firewood.  He also enjoyed taking trips to the casino.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 27, 2026 at Monroe Valley Cemetery, Three Springs, PA with Pastor Titus Palmer and Pastor Jonathan Whitsel officiating.

The family is planning a celebration of life to be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cromwell United Bible Church, 19819 Hill Valley Rd., Three Springs, PA 17264 or to the Sugar Run Church of Brethren, 17193 Hill Valley Rd., Shirleysburg, PA 17260.
