Cyrus C. “Jack” Ulsh

Cyrus C. “Jack” Ulsh, 92, of Shippensburg, PA, died Friday, January 20, 2023 at his residence in Shippensburg, PA.

Born on August 22, 1930 in Orbisonia, PA, he was the son of the late Dewees and Sara (Linn) Ulsh.  He was married to Barbara H. Matheson.  Mrs. Ulsh preceded in death on March 17, 2015.

He is survived by children Richard Ulsh, Shippensburg, PA, Laura Ulsh, Mt. Vernon, OH, Joseph Ulsh, Saginaw, TX, 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Mr. Ulsh was preceded in death by son John Dewees Ulsh and brothers Boyd Ulsh, Jair Ulsh, Donald Ulsh and Dean Ulsh.

He was a member of the Oso Naval Lodge No. 1282, A.F. & A.M., Corpus Christi, TX.

Mr. Ulsh retired from United States Navy after 30 years of service. He served in Unit VQ1 in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart and completed tours on the first-generation, non-nuclear, super carriers the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, USS Teddy Roosevelt and the USS Forrestal.  The tours were all with well-known fighter squadrons in which he was the Aviation Electrician Senior Chief.  His last tenure was spent as a recruiter in the state of Pennsylvania.

A loving father who was full of laughter, and ready for a joke…He will always be remembered!

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 26, 2023 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley Street, Orbisonia, PA with Rev. Robert Mentzer officiating.  Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery, Rockhill Furnace, PA.  Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
