Charles W. “Whitey” Colyer, 98, of RD, Three Springs, PA, died at 12:39 PM, Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at his home.
Born August 10, 1922 at Shade Gap, PA, he was a son of the late John and Bertha (Jones) Colyer. He was united in marriage to the former Dorothy G. “Dottie” Colyer in June of 1946. Mrs. Colyer preceded in death on September 3, 2016.
He is survived by one daughter, Karen Varner and husband Dean of RD, Three Springs, PA, one daughter in law, Karen Colyer of Shade Gap, PA, three grandchildren, Jason Varner, Kerri Tolbert and Megan Barnett, six great grandchildren, Paige Varner, Hannah Varner, Ethan Mummert, Aiden Barnett, Emma Grace Tolbert and Addie Barnett and two great great grandchildren, Eliza and Maggie.
He is also survived by one sister, Lillie Miller and one brother, William Colyer and wife Valena, all of Shade Gap, PA. He was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Colyer, four brothers, Russell, Earl, Curt and Clair Colyer and seven sisters, Anabel Lake, Jessie Price, Mabel Crotsley, Grace Hershberger, Mary Louise Smith, Ruth Meyers and Maxine Mellott.
Mr. Colyer was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Shade Gap, PA and Madden-Wennick Post 518, American Legion, Rockhill Furnace, PA.
During his life he was employed as a stone mason.
Mr. Colyer was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army.
At Mr. Colyer’s request, there will be no services.
