Alvin D. Painter, 84, of Spring Creek Road, Three Springs, PA, died Monday, May 9, 2022 at his daughter’s residence..
Born on July 17, 1937 in Three Springs, PA, he was the son of the late Earl and Alberta (Starr) Painter. He was united in marriage to Janet L. Covert on June 8, 1957 in Orbisonia, PA. Mrs. Painter survives at home.
Mr. Painter is survived by children Alan D. Painter and wife Michele, Greencastle, PA, Rodney V. Painter and wife Cathy, Three Springs, PA, Barbara J. Olsen and husband Larry, Three Springs, PA and David L. Painter and wife Amy, Springfield, VA. Nineteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren also survive.
One brother and four sisters preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Orbisonia Church of the Nazarene where he was a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent and Church Treasurer.
During his lifetime he worked at the General Motors plant in Ohio and later as a maintenance worker at the former James River Corp. (now Georgia-Pacific), Chambersburg, PA.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg, PA.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life service at a later date.
