Adalene B. Kough

Adalene B. (Fields) Kough, 96, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Embassy of Woodland Park, Orbisonia, PA, where she had been a resident since April 2023. Before that she resided at the Shirley Home for the Aged and at her residence in Saltillo, PA.

Born July 15, 1928 in Clay Township, Huntingdon Co., PA, she was a daughter of the late John and Sarah (Kelly) Fields.

She was united in marriage to Wayne W. Kough on April 28, 1956 at Mt. Union, PA by the Rev. Paul Schuler, pastor of the CMA Church. Mr. Kough preceded in death on July 13, 2005.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Velda (Fields) Bowman and two brothers, Harold and Gerald Fields. 

She is survived by many nieces and nephews, including many great, great great and great great great nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

She attended the Clay Township one room schools at Center and Oak Grove. She graduated from Saltillo High School in 1946 and the Huntingdon Secretarial School in 1947. 

In August 1947 she began working for the Clay Township School Board as the first high school secretary for Saltillo High School, later becoming the secretary of the Saltillo School Board and Saltillo Joint School Board. She then transferred to the Southern Huntingdon County High School in 1962, retiring in 1993 after 46 years service.

Adalene was the first secretary/treasurer of the Saltillo TV Cable Corporation when it was organized. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and the Huntingdon County Chapter of School Retirees. She was also a member of AARP and the Community Senior Citizens of Three Springs.

She was a member and Deaconess of the First Baptist Church, Saltillo, PA.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA with Rev. David Ford officiating. Interment will be made at Saltillo Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
